What Happened to Paravel Luggage
Paravel shut down in May 2025 and filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy. ATR Group, the company behind Antler, bought the brand at auction in August 2025 and relaunched it at paravel.com on October 8, 2026.
Below: the full timeline, what the closure meant for orders, refunds and warranties, who owns Paravel now, and what is different about the luggage sold today.

Paravel Timeline, 2016 to 2026
From a New York start-up known for pastel Fold-Up bags, to liquidation, to a new owner in London. Each date below comes from the reporting listed under the timeline.
- November 2016
Paravel launches
Indré Rockefeller and Andy Krantz, who met at the Spanish fashion house Delpozo, launch Paravel in New York after 18 months of development. Nylon Fold-Up bags and canvas Cabana totes make the name, and the brand is stocked by Nordstrom and Bloomingdale's.
- Autumn 2019
The Aviator carry-ons arrive
The Aviator Carry-On and Carry-On Plus become Paravel's first wheeled, hardside luggage, marketed as the world's first carbon-neutral suitcase.
- November 2020
The Aviator Grand
The first checked size joins the range. The Trunk follows later, completing four sizes.
- 2024
Service complaints build
Reviews on Trustpilot describe slow deliveries, returns that took more than 40 days and emails that went unanswered, well before the closure.
- April 23, 2025
The co-founder steps down
Andy Krantz posts that he is stepping down as chief executive.
- Mid-May 2025
The site goes dark
Around May 14 to 17, orders are cancelled and tourparavel.com shows a "technical difficulty" message. Social accounts disappear. Amazon, Bloomingdale's and Net-A-Porter keep selling remaining stock at about 40% off.
- May 19, 2025
Chapter 7 bankruptcy
Paravel files for Chapter 7, which means liquidation rather than restructuring, in the US Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware. It lists $1 million to $10 million in assets and $10 million to $100 million in liabilities.
- August 2025
Antler buys the brand
Antler, the British luggage maker owned by ATR Group, is the top bidder for Paravel's brand and intellectual property at the liquidation auction.
- September 2026
The comeback is announced
ATR Group confirms a relaunch built around coastal New England, with a redesigned Aviator and no wholesale partners at first.
- October 8, 2026
Paravel relaunches
paravel.com reopens with the Aviator in four sizes, the Signature Canvas Tote, a set of four packing cubes and a luggage tag, in Nantucket Cream, Newport Red, Bar Harbor Navy and Mystic Black.

Why Did Paravel Go Out of Business?
Paravel never published a statement explaining the closure, so nobody outside the company can give the full reason. What the public record shows is a business whose debts had outgrown it: the bankruptcy filing listed liabilities of at least $10 million against assets of no more than $10 million.
Before the closure Paravel brought in about $20 million a year, mainly in the US, according to FashionUnited. A Pay Me In Plane Tickets newsletter set its collapse against rivals that grew through wholesale, but that is commentary, not a finding.
The signs customers saw first were operational: slow shipping and unanswered emails through 2024, then a chief executive leaving in April 2025 and cancelled orders weeks later.
What the Closure Meant for Customers
Four situations come up again and again in owner threads and reviews. Here is what is known about each.
You had an order in May 2025
Outcomes were mixed. Some buyers received part of an order with an automatic refund for the rest; others had orders cancelled with no money back and no one answering the phone. The route that worked for many was a dispute with their card issuer. ATR Group bought the brand at auction, not the old company, and has made no statement about unfilled 2025 orders.
Your bag was under the old warranty
That warranty ended with the old company. The new Paravel covers only Aviator suitcases bought from paravel.com on or after October 8, 2026, and says it does not hold parts for earlier products.
How the new warranty worksYou bought in the liquidation sale
Stock sold through Amazon, Bloomingdale's and Net-A-Porter at about 40% off. NBC Select warned at the time that delivery was not certain. Bags that arrived are genuine original-generation Paravel, with no warranty from the new owner.
Your original Aviator needs a repair
Paravel does not repair pre-relaunch luggage. An independent luggage repair shop can usually replace spinner wheels, handles and zip pulls; take the bag in so they can match the parts.

Who Owns Paravel Now?
Paravel belongs to ATR Group, a London-based travel goods group that also owns the British luggage brand Antler and the Australian brand Nere. Press reports use both "ATR Group" and "ATRB". Antler, which itself went through administration in 2020 and relaunched in 2023, was the top bidder for Paravel's assets.
The group's chief executive is Kirsty Glenne, who joined Antler in 2022 and was promoted to lead the group in March 2026. Paravel's founders are not part of the relaunch.
ATR's stated plan is to rebuild Paravel in the US first, add colors and new shapes in 2027, start an international rollout, and seek the B Corp and Climate Label certifications that lapsed during the bankruptcy.
Old Paravel vs New Paravel
The name and the Aviator silhouette carried over. Almost everything around them changed.

Is the New Paravel Legit?
Yes. paravel.com is run by ATR Group, the company that legally bought the Paravel name, and it is the only place selling the October 2026 collection. Forbes, Esquire, TheStreet and FashionUnited all covered the relaunch.
Sites with similar names still describe themselves as the official Paravel store. Before you pay, check that the address reads exactly paravel.com.
Is It the Same Luggage?
Not quite. The new Aviator keeps the shape and four sizes but changes the shell, wheels, colors and warranty, and every size is lighter. Paravel does not name its factory; FashionUnited reports the materials are traced through an Indonesian supply chain. Whether quality holds up over years is something only time and owners will show.

Is Paravel still in business?
Yes. After closing in May 2025, Paravel relaunched under ATR Group on October 8, 2026, selling through paravel.com.
Did Paravel go bankrupt?
Yes. Paravel filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy on May 19, 2025, in the District of Delaware. Chapter 7 is liquidation: the company stopped trading and its assets were sold.
Who bought Paravel?
Antler, part of the London-based ATR Group, bought Paravel's brand and intellectual property at the liquidation auction in August 2025.
Will the new Paravel honor my old warranty?
No. The current warranty covers only Aviator suitcases bought on or after October 8, 2026, and registered within 30 days.
I never received my 2025 order. Can I get a refund?
The new owner bought the brand, not the old company's obligations, and has not offered refunds for 2025 orders. Owners who got money back did it through a dispute with their card issuer.
Are the founders involved in the new Paravel?
No. FashionUnited reports that Indré Rockefeller and Andy Krantz left before the relaunch.
Is the Paravel Fold-Up bag coming back?
It is not in the October 2026 range. ATR Group has said new shapes are planned for 2027 without naming them. Original Fold-Up bags still turn up on Amazon and resale sites.
Is Paravel a luxury brand?
It sits in premium luggage rather than true luxury. Reviewers have long called it a cheaper alternative to Rimowa, and Paravel's own pitch is premium quality without the luxury price.
